Word Wave enters open beta in May
Our word-building puzzle comes out of the wardrobe and invites everyone to the party. Here’s what’s in the beta and how to get in.
Word Wave has been in closed beta for six months. In May we’re opening it to everyone with a Joy Online account.
The pitch: a tide of letters rolls in, you build the longest word you can before the wave breaks. Long words earn a "surf" bonus that pushes the wave back. Miss twice and the round ends.
The beta ships with English and Spanish dictionaries, one-hand portrait mode, and a daily "Swell" challenge that uses a single shared board. We’ll open up two more languages (Portuguese, French) once we’re happy with the word-frequency tuning.
If you’ve been on the waitlist, your invite lands in your inbox on May 6th. No waitlist? No problem — just sign in after launch day and it’ll be in your games list.
